So it’s been a little while since we’ve had a Band Of The Month, but we are happy to dive right back into it with Adelaide’s very own newcomers, The Away Game. The pop-punk trio have only been in the scene for for about 4 months since the release of their 3 track demo back in May, but have perfected their style and come in strong playing a handful of shows including local support for the recent Neck Deep/State Champs Australian tour. The guys recently traveled over to Melbourne to play a club show at BANG! and have a busy roster of shows to see the rest of the year out.

You can check out their first release via their Bandcamp page.

Joel Torres (vocals/guitar) had a few words to share about himself and the band. “The Away Game was an idea I had going back more than three years now. I started writing music that came completely natural to me, lyrics that were honest and anyone could relate to. Growing up inspired by bands like New Found Glory, Blink 182 and Mxpx, I was sick to death of there being no bands around like that these days. I needed to bring back those memories of a time when nothing mattered except for beating your high score on Tony Hawks, and chatting up chicks on MSN after school.”

Their second music video is currently in the planning stages and will be a follow up of their first release video ‘Worth The Risk‘ which you can view above. The second video should be out in a few months in the lead up to their debut EP out early next year. Joel says ‘they have big plans of touring, writing, & entertaining but the most important of them all,  have one hell of a time doing it’. Definitely Keep a look out for these three guys as their music is catchy as hell and will leave you singing their songs for days!
