WEIGHTLESS – SELF ADJUSTMENT
Only a couple of weeks ago now, American hero and first ever moon stroller Neil Armstrong passed away. The Famous American astronaut was a worldwide superstar after achieving the impossible dream of being the first person to walk on the moon in 1969. On this Apollo 11 mission, Armstrong and his pals spent a few hours exploring in zero gravity and building castles with moon dust. Just a few of the lucky people who have been blessed with the opportunity to experience the feeling of being weightless. To have that free, almost flying motion, would be something truly amazing that all of us non-astronauts can only ever dream of. But unless you’re currently involved in a NASA space program, then like the rest of us you will just have to get your hands on a copy of the new Weightless album “Self-Adjustment”. Get involved and let their free flowing and beautiful sounds take your own journey far away, even if it’s not quite to the moon.
Hailing from the southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia, since the band got together and started playing shows in 2009, they have released a number of self-recorded demos and Eps. This has led to them to finding their own incredible and unique sound and putting it down onto what is their debut album titled “Self-Adjustment”. A beautiful collection of light and free flowing songs that take you away to place where you mind doesn’t have to think. The opening track “Anxious In a Crowd” really sets the tone for the whole album, producing some really talented lead guitar work and seemingly effortless vocals that continue throughout the entire album. With loads of well-written tracks that capture your attention, you can’t help but get lost in the carefree melodies and sweeping guitars. Every song on “Self-Adjustment” takes on a life and story of its own, leading you through the journey of the album from start to finish.
This is not your standard ‘Chucking a Mosh’ band/album, but I can definitely tell you that what they lack in mosh riffs they more than make up for with this beautiful collection of songs. For a young bands first attempt at an album, these guys have really done a fantastic job. Not only with writing and producing such a quality recorded sound, but even down to all the detail and thought put into the artwork and packaging.
So if you ever need to clear your mind and just chill out to some easy going tunes, then this is the perfect album to take you where you want to be. Lying on the couch on a Sunday afternoon with ‘Self-Adjustment” flowing out of my speakers is something that I will definitely be doing again, and I think you should give it a try.
