Since we first heard their demo way back last year, we have been a big fan of Melbourne Hardcore band Outright. Made up a of a few local legends, the band’s brutal tunes, along with the positive messages they project upon their fans, are an absolute treat to listen to. With the band stepping things up and releasing a brand new 7 inch record titled Dedication, we are incredibly proud to be announcing Outright as our Band of The Month for September!
Forming in late 2010, Outright hit the ground running, releasing a quick-selling four-song demo, and playing their first show in early 2011, at the iconic Melbourne venue, The Arthouse. Their energetic brand of honest and defiant hardcore was met with wide interest which saw them added to national compilations and take on a string of shows up and down the coast playing alongside a swag of revered artists, both local and international.
Now armed with new material and the same unapologetic and straight forward approach, the band returns to deliver their debut 7 inch, ‘Dedication’ – four songs, recorded by Jason Fuller at Goatsound Studios and mastered by New York hardcore’s ubiquitous Don Fury, that capture the band’s live spirit and passion, and hit hard and meaningfully with sincere lyrics full of power and insight.
Backed by big riffs, hard hits and jumps aplenty, they forge on with new songs in tow and a distinct passion and drive to deliver a message that has been nestled within a sea of heavy chords and a progressive social conscience.
You can catch Outright on tour this September/October in support of the self-released ‘Dedication’ which is out now through Reason and Rage Records.
