Taking influence from Hot Cross, To The North, Kidcrash, Algernon Cadwallader, and Meet Me in St Louis, Brisbane’s El Alamein add a touch of fruityness, and youthful reflection as they prepare to release their debut EP New Patterns in August. Having already toured down to Adelaide and Melbourne earlier in the year with New Zealand’s god bows to math, El Alamein plan to tour the rest of the country in August with Melbourne’s Stockades. Unlike the classic incestuous story of band formation in their respective cities,  both bands are a testament to the youthfulness of new Australian music, and how far a DIY attitude can take them.

Recorded by Chris Brownbill at Sun Distortion Studios, Brisbane, mixed by Joe Reinhart (Algernon Cadwallader, Restorations, My Heart to Joy) at The Headroom, Philadelphia, and mastered by Ryan Schwabe, New Patterns will be self released in Australia, and released by Hell Is Now Love Records in New Zealand in August 2012.
