In the space of two years, The Smith Street Band have have gone from playing house parties, shop fronts, storm drains and everywhere in between to being one of the most energised and talked about punk-rock bands in Australia. Driven by a fierce D.I.Y spirit, a lust for touring and armed with their revered debut ‘No One Gets Lost Anymore’, the Melbourne 5 piece have hardly taken a break from criss-crossing the country since mid 2011.

This week we’re delighted to announce that The Smith Street Band are preparing to enter the studio again, commencing tracking for album number two later in May. Their swag of new material will be recorded at Three Phase Studio and mixed at Sing Sing by Matt Voigt (Midnight OilThe Dirty ThreePaul Kelly). The album is set for release via Poison City Records later in 2012.

Following a month of sold-out residency shows at The Old Bar in Melbourne, The Smith Street Band head back out on the road this week supporting Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls (UK) on their Australian tour. They have also just been announced alongside the likes of LagwagonBraid and Polar Bear Club on this year’s The Fest 11 held annually late October in Gainesville, FL (USA).

‘No One Gets Lost Anymore’ LP/ CD/ iTunes is out now via Poison City Records
